Mahomes and Kelce help the Chiefs defeat the Warriors in the game. beat Thompson and Curry

There is just no stopping Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce right now.

The Kansas City Chiefs duo continued their winning ways on Thursday, beating Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in the eighth edition of The Match.

The two-time Super Bowl champs cruised to victory over the Golden State Warriors duo in the golf exhibition, recording a 3 & 2 win at The Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mahomes and Kelce pulled away after exchanging pars with Curry and Thompson on the opening hole. They went 2 up after three holes following back-to-back birdies at No. 2 and No. 3, per CBS Sports.

They continued to pile on the pressure, stretching their advantage to four up through six after the Splash Brothers failed to make par in two of the next three holes.

Chiefs pair’s putting woes emerge
The NBA stars momentarily stopped the bleeding at No. 7, tying the hole to remain 4 down with five holes to go. That result gave confidence to Curry, who said that they are a third-quarter team.

The momentum still was with the Chiefs pair, though, who nearly closed out the match at No. 8.

Kelce’s tee shot landed 10 feet from the pin, but they failed to take advantage, missing both of their birdie putts to give life to Curry and Thompson, per Yahoo Sports.

Their putting struggles continued on the ninth hole, with Kelce and Mahomes making three-putt bogeys to give the four-time NBA champs their lone win of the afternoon.

Mahomes, Kelce embrace underdog tag
Mahomes finally ended the basketball stars’ uprising, driving the green on the short par-4 10th hole to win the event.

It was a disappointing result for Curry and Thompson, who entered the competition as the heavy favorites by virtue of the former’s status as a scratch golfer. Many expected Curry, who had a +1.3 handicap, to shine brightest in this event.

That didn’t happen, with Mahomes and Kelce the ones who stole the show.

Paul moves to Golden State
Sports Brief recently reported on Curry’s reaction to Chris Paul joining the Warriors.

The Warriors acquired the future Hall of Famer from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Jordan Poole.

Curry said that every team that Paul has been on gets better, so he expects the same with the Warriors next season.
